| Eric Ebner (on the IGS forum) has introduced a new type of tonebar, coated with "delrin" which is supposed to be very quiet and durable. http://www.tribotone.com I've ordered one and I'm very curious to try it out! A bientôt, Fred | |

| Curious to hear how that sounds. Cause plastic seems not to be the better stuff for slide. But Fred, you are still not in bed at this time.. P.S: for the trip, if I don't come on Wednesday in London , I will arrive on Friday directly to Brighton my friend. So happy to visit you. Ciao. Paolo. | |

| Plastic ???? Delrin.... - Citation :
- Often marketed and used as a metal substitute, Delrin is a lightweight, low-friction, and wear-resistant plastic
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delrin - Citation :
- Other names for this compound include: polyoxymethylene (POM), acetal resin, polytrioxane and polyformaldehyde.
So if you buy 4 Tribo-tone slides, you've got 4 polyoxymethylene slides, or 4 POM, that is POM POM POM POM...and then you can play Beethoven !

| Putain! C'est très bon, cette bar! I received my "B-weight" Tribo-Tone bar two days ago and I love it. Really quiet, and better on the low strings on my Lazy River than any other bar I've tried! It's now one of my favourite bars, alongside my Diamond Bottlenecks lead crystal bars. - pascal a écrit:

Salut Pascal! There is a $15 international shipping option too. The bar is more expensive than others, but well worth it in my opinion. A bientôt, Fred

| Salut, Now Michael Messer has posted a great review of this tone bar on the IGS forum and his own forum: - Citation :
- I very rarely contribute to this forum. I run a forum of my own and that keeps me pretty busy, but yesterday I received a black 'C' weight Tribo-Tone bar from Eric Ebner in Austin, Texas, and I am so impressed with his work that I thought I would post a message for you folks to read.
I am not a great one for new-fangled inventions & innovations when it comes to the tools I use to play & record music. I like the traditional old tools and have often been quite vocal about my opinions of new innovations that to me are just trying to re-invent the wheel. I have to say I was a little skeptical about these bars, but I was interested enough to order one and I can only say that I am very pleased I did. These Tribo-Tone steels/bars/slides are fantastic. They give a clean clear note and there is almost no string noise at all, even on the wound strings. I was really amazed when I tried it for the first time. I have used the same solid steel bar which was made for me in 1991 every day for the past 16 years, but today I have been using my new Tribo-Tone little black devil-slide and I am amazed with its performance. Not only is there very little string noise, but the tone is wonderful. The friction between slide & string is exactly right and the notes produced are loud and clear. It is also very tactile and comfortable to hold. It is less slippery than metal, but just as fast when playing runs. I have not played a concert with it yet, so I don’t know how it will react with a sweaty hand, but I have a feeling it will be fine. I have tried it on the following instruments, and on each one I prefer it to my trusty old steel bar; 1931 square-neck Tricone, 2001 square-neck wood-bodied Fine Resophonic Tricone, square-neck Holoubek Dobro, 1934 National lap steel and one or two others. The last time I got this excited about a new accessory was in 1991 when I met Malcolm Newton and tried Newtone Strings for the first time.
Eric Ebner really has created a wonderful new innovative product that I can highly recommend to all lap-slide/steel players. I have only tried the ‘C’ weight, but I am sure the lighter ones are equally as good, especially for less experienced players. Order one, you won't be dissappointed.
I almost forgot to mention the packaging & presentation of these beautiful Tribo-Slides. You won’t be disappointed - the whole thing; the slide & the packaging & presentation are first class. This is a high grade top class product. Sol Hoopii & King Benny would have gone wild if such a thing had existed in their time!
Shine On, Michael Messer

In a word: Oui! Of course what is "best" is subjective. The Broz-o-Phonic is a great sounding bar too, but the Tribo-Tone has the following advantages: - Much less string noise - Much easier to hold on to (becuase of the surface material) - Fuller and cleaner tone on the heavy strings Expensive, yes, but for the same reason that other high-quality products handmade in a small workshop with great care are expensive. And Eric offers your money back if you're not satisfied. Other happy users include: Michael Messer Pascal Mesnier Bob Brozman Basil Henriques Rick Aiello Brad Bechtel Steinar Gregertsen I am endorsing the Tribo-Tone bars but I would be shouting their praise like this regardless of that - they are fantastic and Eric has through hard work created a truly great tone bar that is a real treat for all us lap sliders! | Ok, ok, ok You've made up my mind, I'll buy one I think the "B" size will perfectly suits me because it's a lil' less heavy than the broz-o-phonic. But I hesistate with the color, I prefer black but when you slide on a dark fretboard, I'm afraid I will not see well the bar...

The black is cool. My B-weight is black and when I ordered other weights I also chose other colours to easily see which is which. Fred
